These papers are part of a series produced during March 2021- February 2022. During that time I wanted to record what happened in a local quarry over the year. This included different ways using representational drawings and photographs. But I also wanted to show activity from birds, animals and the weather as they were exposed to the elements.
I used four pieces of Atlantis 400gm paper in sequence over the course of the year. These were left in a remote quarry where they remained undisturbed by humans.
Spring March-May 2021 | Summer June-August 2021 | Autumn September-November 2021 | Winter December-February 2022
The paper was then rescued from site and taken back to the studio where it was mounted onto the same thick paper and further drawing with ink and copper leaf
They were a record of activity in a specific quarry and were an important part of the Land Marks Project, funded by Arts Council England and have been displayed at Dean Clough Gallery, Barnsley Civic and Gallery Oldham.
